IAPP has published details about the number of complaints received by different data protection authorities (DPAs) in the first month after the GDPR started to be enforced.
It isn’t a full picture as there are no details from Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal and Spain. The accuracy and consistency of the data is questionable, e.g. variable number of days covered across the DPAs, and the UK’s ICO say “please note that we are not yet in a position to know whether these complaints are about the GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018 or are about something which happened or didn’t happen under the Data Protection Act 1998. The majority have yet to be assessed for validity and nature”….so please don’t infer too much from it.
