Malware is the biggest cyber threat to the UK

The latest CERT UK Annual report has malware as the biggest threat, with 30% of incidents with being malware related. Three types were responsible for the majority of incidents:

  • conficker
  • zeroaccess
  • zeus

Patches or mitigation advice has been issued to address them, the conflicker patch was actually issued more than five years ago. This is the time to review how patches are applied, and stop bad practices that could lead to future malware issues.

The report sums it up very well “It is clear to us that we all need to do far more to protect systems and educate people to the dangers, starting with the most basic cyber security steps”.
